2 Oral Rinses To Help Your Teen Treat Tooth Soreness After Getting Porcelain Veneers

Posted on

Porcelain veneers are not a cosmetic procedure that is only reserved for older individuals. Teens can often decide to get porcelain veneers in order to fix inconsistencies in their smiles. If they suffer from chipped or cracked teeth, then this is often one of the better dental solutions. One of the temporary aftereffects associated with porcelain veneers is tooth soreness. The soreness happens because part of the enamel is stripped to create a surface for the placement of the veneers. The feeling can be painful but fortunately, it is only temporary. Until the soreness goes away on its own, there are a few oral rinses that you can use to help your teen soothe the discomfort.

Wintergreen and Lime Rinse

Wintergreen smells and tastes a lot like mint. This makes it a favorite in dental care products. However, the true benefits of wintergreen lie in its analgesic properties. The herb is great for getting rid of the stiffest pain and soreness. You can create a wintergreen oral rinse for your teen by taking fresh wintergreen leaves and soaking them in hot water. Slice a whole lime and add it to the mix in order to incorporate antibacterial properties to the rinse. Allow both the wintergreen leaves and lime slices to soak for a few hours, then remove and serve it to your teen. Instruct them not to swallow the oral rinse, but to work it around their mouth for a few minutes. The longer they keep it in, the better the results will be.

Clove and Chamomile Rinse

One of the best ways to get rid of any kind of soreness or discomfort is by using both cloves and chamomile. Both herbs contain analgesic properties and chamomile is seen as a natural calming herb. You can create a powerful rinse out of the herbs by taking fresh chamomile and dried cloves and soaking them in hot water. Soak the herbs overnight in order to make the rinse as strong as possible. In the morning, warm up the rinse till it is room temperature, then instruct your teen to use it. Allow them to use this rinse in the morning and before bed in order to get the best results.

Oral rinses are some of the best ways to get a handle over any kind of dental pain. Use these rinses to make sure that your teen is able to treat their soreness and enjoy their porcelain veneers.
